Planting and all kinds of awesome!

This year I have an exceptional helper.
He is keen and well aware of what he needs to do.
Green thumb? Yes!
Smart? TOTALLY!
Beanie continues to amazing me with his sharp memory, hilarious vocabulary, and wee off the cuff comments that remind me that he IS listening and little ears are always alert.

We've been waiting to do some planting... a tradition we do with Grama.
The rain re-routed a few of our dates and Grama & Papa are on a much earned holiday in Holland and Ireland.
We took planting into our own hands today while we had the chance.
Someone was indeed focused.  And in his underoos to boot.

Happy Monday.
Happy Green Thumbing.
Now bring on the sunshine and let the popsicle eating commence!

Fresh Air.

This past weekend we spent dirty, busy, and for the most part content.
Fresh air and sunshine help make that fairly straight forward.

The BURMIS Tree

En route to Fernie House 2 every week I want to stop and capture this amazing tree.
Yesterday I finally had the chance.

The Burmis Tree is a limber pine located in south western Alberta in the community of Burmis, Alberta, along the Crowsnest Highway and east of municipality of Crowsnest Pass. The tree died in the late 1970s after losing its needles. Limber trees are known to survive harsh conditions and are one of the longest living trees in Alberta. The Burmis tree was estimated to be between 600 and 750 years old. In 1998, it was toppled by wind, however members of local community refused to leave it lying. Efforts were made to fix the tree back up using rods and brackets. In 2004, vandals cut one of the tree's main branches. Locals fixed it again with glue and a prop pole. The community rallied to have the new Highway 3 built around the tree rather than destroy the heritage symbol it has become. The tree is the only point of interest in the once prosperous town of Burmis. It is the subject of many paintings, poems and other forms of art, and it is said to be the most photographed tree in Canada, and perhaps even the world.

It is indeed a dramatic tree and on this overcast day it stood out that much more.
Glad I finally had the time to finally take a few shots of this Alberta legend.

Happy long weekend everyone!

Fernie Love!

This is indeed one of our happiest places on the planet (next to the farm I grew up on - nothing can ever take first place from that for me).
But for the three of us, it brings so many memories.  It means peace, and hope.  Fun, exercise, fresh air, simple transactions and NO TRAFFIC!

... and for the olden days when it was just the two of us, it brings memories of a few over the top late evenings, laughter with our favorite friends, new beginnings, and maybe a pint or ten?!

While our little dream is undergoing a "small" (yeah right) reno we have been lucky enough to stay at a friend's condo while they were not in town.
Complete with pool and hot tub.  Someone thinks its a real BUMMER!
Brit, Brad, and Isla you are so kind.

As a child I skied in this town with my family.
That was long before I could ever truly appreciate its charm.
This small BC town makes me feel calm, and healthy, and not a tad anxious.
I like that in a place.

We are so pumped to share our dream with our family and friends.
We are so grateful for the chance to watch our family grow and learn and appreciate all this place has to offer.

We will even take the mid winter cold rain and the meltdowns that come with going to the ski hill or leaving the ski hill.  We have a few of those.  Oh yes we do.

If you have the chance.  Visit Fernie.  I hope it brings you smiles like it does us.
And check out FRESHIES when you come.  AMAZING tea and snacks!

Happy long weekend everyone.
We are off to Pleasantville!
PEACE!

Tubbies time out.

We are in a huge shower only phase.
It cracks me up.
He could spend hours in there with a digger and a plastic juice jug.

We are giving the tub a time out for a while.  I'm sure it will be back...

Sandbox. Diggers. All things BOY!

This weekend Papa and Dad built Bean a new sandbox.
We overcame the dreaded flu bugger that has been lingering for nearly 2 weeks and did it up right in the '11th hour'.
To say it is a HIT is a huge huge huge understatement.

The boy has managed to pack every item with wheels and diggers and loaders and buckets from the depths of every toy corner of our home to celebrate in the grande opening.
No toy shall be left out.

I look at our wee old repurposed sandbox and wonder....
WOW, big enough for a lady bug maybe?
But that is just my take on the matter.

A sandbox.
A child's right of passage?!

The sand tracking in the house has increased exponentially.
And the floor cleaning required by my standards is nearly out of control.
But someone thinks it's a fair upgrade.  And that is what matters.

Thanks Papa.
Thanks Daddy.
So happy my boy has a sandbox to dig in as I did when I was a little girl.

April Blog Circle Challenge... SELFIES!

Once a  month I will be joining a group of Mothers and Photographers and post ~10 photos.... of the ordinary and not so ordinary moments of our days.
Once again I've linked up with these fab Moms for our monthly blog circle.
This month our goal was to attempt as many self portraits as we could manage.
I'm not at all a fan of photos of just myself, so I've recruited my favorite model for cute factor.

Please enjoy more SELFIE photos from some talented gals.  They are all such an inspiration.  Who knows, you may be inspired to try a few of your own self portraits, it was so much fun!
Mercedes and her family are adorable and she is incredibly talented.  I follow along with her photo feed daily.  You will want to check out her photos.  She is BOLD and awesome and one hell of a fun Mom by the looks of things.
Enjoy!
